Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Every tool runs on your Mac. The app contacts our server only to activate a license, count free runs, check for updates, send feedback you write and — if you turn it on — share anonymous usage counts. File names, paths and contents are never sent.
What can I do with the free version?
Each Mac gets 3 free runs to use with any tool, with up to 5 files in a run. A run that fails or is cancelled doesn't count. Pro removes these limits.
Can I shrink a PDF to a specific size?
Yes. Choose Target size, enter a size such as 5 MB and File Acture finds the best quality that fits. If the file can't get that small, the app shows the smallest size it can reach.
Are my original files changed?
Never. Results are always saved as new files, and an existing file is never overwritten.
Which Macs are supported?
Any Mac with macOS 14 Sonoma or later, with Apple silicon or an Intel processor.
When can I download File Acture?
The Mac app is in final testing. Downloads and purchases will open on this site soon.
How many Macs can I use Pro on?
Up to 3 at the same time. To move a license, choose Deactivate on This Mac in Settings › License, then activate the key on your new Mac.
Is there a Windows or phone version?
Windows, web and mobile versions are planned. The Mac app comes first.
